It is a long-held custom to sing a niggun attributed to each Rebbe on special occasions and at the conclusion of Yom Tov farbrengens. The purpose of singing these songs is not merely nostalgia nor only to savor the beauty of these melodies: rather, its intent is the formation of a deep bond between Chasid and Rebbe. When these songs are played and sung, they should transform each home into its own "smaller sanctuary."
