L'chu N'ran'noh - Nusach Carlebach Volume 1- Leyl Shabbos
L'chu N'ran'noh - Nusach Carlebach Volume 1- Leyl Shabbos

Solomon, Ben Zion

This release features 20 selections composed by Reb Shlomo Carlebach zt'l for Friday night with music and vocals by Ben Zion Solomon & sons. In general, Reb Shlomo juiced up Kabolas Shabbos to the utmost. On the Moshav on summer nights, we could finish dancing to "L'choh Dodi" at 10:30 PM and then begin Ma'ariv (the evening prayer service). For reasons of the late hour, restlessness of the children, and hunger of the kahal (congregation), Reb Shlomo did not shlepp (drag) out Ma'ariv, but rather went through it with very few niggunim and almost no dancing. Depending on the tolerance and sensitivities of the congregation, it is possible to insert niggunim and dancing in many places. The particular niggunim presented in this recording are not to be construed as the only possibilities. The truth is that there is no one "Nusach Carlebach" since Reb Shlomo himself never davened (prayed) the same way twice. This recording is intended to be used on weekdays only as a guide to learning Reb Shlomo's style of davening or just for your listening pleasure. Note: The guitar that is heard on this recording was used only to add emphasis to the tonality and rhythm and was not and should not be used on Shabbos. (Copyright 2000 Ben Zion Solomon)
