In October of 1993, Dudu Fisher began his Broadway career playing the role of Jean Valjean in "Les Miserables." The conditions of Mr. Fisher's contract were unprecedented. Never before in the history of Broadway was a contract written for a starring role which stated that "Because of religious reasons, the star, Dudu Fisher is not to perform on Friday night and Saturday matinees."
