Several years ago, Itzhak Perlman and PBS set out to explore the world of klezmer music with some of today's leading klezmer artists in "In the Fiddler's House," a Great Performances television special. EMI/Angel Records continued this musical collaboration with Perlman and four ensembles from the TV program - Brave Old World, The Klezmatics, The Klezmer Conservatory Band, and The Andy Statman Klezmer Orchestra - with a recording of traditional and contemporary klezmer music that has received international acclaim. In the summer of 1996, Perlman and the four groups took the show on the road to sold-out houses at concert venues like Washington's Wolf Trap, Chicago's Ravinia, and New York's legendary Radio City Music Hall. On July 2, 1996, the art-deco splendor of Radio City rocked to the sounds of klezmer music old and new as the artists brought an exuberant audience of five thousand to its feet.
